device on MER-B has picked up the so called "dust bunny" (also more
seriously referred to as a "pronged structure") and deposited it on the
rocky outcrop at this location. The only question is why? Why the
coverup? WHY THE LIES?

Oh well, even if is not a coverup, it still is an interesting little rock.

So if I understand you right, the US sends a probe to Mars, lets the
public follow the journey and landing minute by minute, lands it there
safely, starts transmitting hig rez pictures and data on detail level, for
everyone to see, tells the gathered press about exciting discoveries, and
scientists being puzzled, searching for explanations, keeps feeding the
world data, each day and each hour, maintains a website -for the world to
see- loaded with detailed information.

And this all points to conspiracies, coverups, and lies.

Get a dictionary. It would do you no harm.
