I just purchased a used automatic 2000 323Ci w/96000 miles. I flew down to south Florida from ohio and drove this car home with no problems except...... Sometimes reverse will not work, but more often than not it works fine. I can put the car in reverse and it does nothing. I can tell that the selector changes something in the transmission, but it just acts like its in neutral. I can drive away and try it again five minutes later and it will work fine. The transmission does not act like it slips, even when it won't back up. In fact otherwise it shifts very smooth like you would expect. (I don't know if this is related) When I start the car, I can hear a buzzing... whaaaaa whaaaaa whaaaaa whaaa whaaa whaa whaa whaa wha and then it goes away. I have a degree and work on advanced current model cars for a living. I mostly do electrical type work and actual diagnosis on Acuras and Hondas. I have owned nothing but newer acuras for the last 10 years. My ability to work on newer cars is extensive and I have a good understanding of programming electronics as well as the mechanics. However this is my first BMW and it will take me sometime to familiarize myself with this car. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Josh emails fine too |
