his fighter, Juan Manuel Marquez is now the top featherweight in the world. What the hell is he talking about. Never mind that Manny Pac' will make Marquez his hostinghostinghostinghostinghosting by round five, he beat the percieved champion in that division, Marco Antonia Barrera. When you beat the Champion in his weight clhostinghostinghosting, I guess that makes you Champion. Does that fartknocker have any shame? If he wants to promote his fighter, showing how stupid he is isn't the right way. Common sense says that Manny Pac' is the Featherweight Champion of the world. (I know this fact is giving Mendoza, Suliaman, and Knight fits). If he wants he fighter to be the best in the world, his next phone call should be to Murad Muhammad to get this fight done. The fight will be a nice payday for both fighters and promoters, and Murad Muhammad could do something to get that grill fixed. The point is, Bob Arum is a boxing promoter. He's got no shame and he is going to promote his own financial interest. How many times have we heard Arum and DOn King make some outrageous claim into the camera or in print? SO often that it doesn't shock most people. -mwh |

Isn't RJJ a boxing promoter, his own in fact and yet you hold him to a MUCH higher standard...RJJ probably talks more hostinghostinghostinghosting than King and Arum combined. Just saying that in the context of boxing promoters' behavior, this is very typical. Now, as to your point about RJJ being a promoter. When boxing promoters are discussed in a historical sense, they tend to be discussed (in no particular order)concerning; the quality of matchups they promoted, the B.S. they promoted to the public, the fighters they ripped off, the public that they ripped off, their lies, their ability to look you in the eye and lie repeatedly, etc. Out of all of those examples, the good matchups that they promoted are the least of what we talk about when we talk promoters. You are saying that RJJ is at home amongst (and is better than the most notorious of) the worst liars, cheats and shostinghostinghostingbags of the sporting world. Remember that you said it, not me. ;-) -mwh |

We both agree that it is more or less the promoters job to build up interest in a fight by any means available to them. That's the job of any promoter or pro sports agent. To see that his client's name is in the spotlight as much as possible. JoeyP |

As for RJJ, I've been saying that about RJJ for years too. I know you're an RJJ fan. I would now advise you to make no further statements that may compromise your ability to publicly support RJJ's career. ;-) -mwh |

I know when RJJ is talking his talk, it is just that. It's all talk. And pro athletes are more prone to the "mouth runneth over" than most people. I think I have said before I don't buy any of RJJ's talk like you probably don't. But, as his own promoter/agent/manager. It is his job to talk about his "client" as much as possible. I am an RJJ fan. No doubt. But I also see no problem with criticizing him either. My problem actually is the fight with Tyson. He no more needs to fight Tyson than Lewis needed to. But then again, as Roy is looking for one more huge payday, I can understand why he is trying to make this fight from a dollar and cents perspective. Roy has fought tough opponents his last two fights. I can understand him wanting an "easy" money fight now to retire to his *new* farm in LA somewhere. JoeyP |

I think it's funny that Tyson is now an "easy money" fight compared to John Ruiz and Antonio Tarver. Pie |
