Various Topics on Canoe

A friend and myself have been hitting the local rivers in his 14'
aluminum canoe. We like to use his canoe, because it turns better and
is lighter than my 17' fibergl*** canoe. The one thing that we both
agree is a pain in the butt w/the aluminum one is, when we get into
shallow water and the bottom drags, it catches and we wind up walking.
We hardly ever have this problem in the fibergl*** canoe, it just kind
of slides over the rocks. Does anyone have a solution to this problem
(besides staying in deeper water). Im not sure if there's a coating
(paint or even wax) that could reduce the "grabbieness" of the
aluminum. Thanks
