What they do is restrict you to TWO DAY shipping or overnight.
Thats how it is everywhere. Either that or they exclude shipping to
where Im at. For instance lots of sellers on Ebay wont ship here.
I was having stuff sent to my brothers house and he was shipping it
but he got sick of doing that.

You dont even , want to see the prices for overnight shipping !
And cases and other heavy stuff - forget about it.

Id love to get a Marshall amp one ebay but theres that dang shipping
problem. Also a portable air con would be nice.

Out of curiosity, where do you live that you have such a problem with
shipping?

Well, I guess it's a small price to pay to live in paradise. I lived there
for 6 months in 1969 while waiting to get drafted. Lived in an apt with 8
college students. We each paid about $30 a month. Surfing and diving every
day ... that was really hard to take ... but someone had to do it.

That what they keep saying - the price of living in paradise is much
higher costs for a lot of things. I think the avg cost of a house now
hit $430K - after sagging a bit from the red hot 80s. Like a lot of
places theres a real estate (bubble) boom.

You would probably not even recognize it now. There have been several
waves - Ive only been here for 6 years or so , of building. Theres
actually a Compusa in Honolulu a huge one , they are getting ready to
open one of the largest Wal Marts across the street from the largest
mall in honolulu right next to the beach and best buy is coming too
they say. Its amazing but even as recently as the early 90s there was
no large computer shop and many other things in honolulu. It was like
living in some small town in some rural area . One of the reasons was
there used to be lots of regs protecting small local businesses I
think so lots of large chains like bank chains etc - you couldnt find
here giving it a strange small town feel. The big store chains did
start coming in a bit before the mid 90s but then you had the real
estate bubble of the 80s when Japanese and other investment came in
like a tidal wave , and then it went bust with their economy. So land
prices I guess were too high for the big chains in ironically the
biggest urban area . They first popped up far away.

The current real estate boom which sort of started in the late 90s in
a sporadic way and then escalated the last few years while everyone
was screaming it was still a recession --- has really gathered steam
and huge luxo condos, Wal Mart , a med school and all along the beach
front has and is getting m***ive makeovers. The huge mall itself by
Ala Moana - has seen several makeovers and has 3 levels now. Used to
be one level. Ive heard they are going to be building more stuff on
the 3rd floor and a Neiman Marcus which already exists in the mall is
being planned across from the mall too.

Be aware that NEC will give you NO HELP when you buy one of their drives
that's rebadged to another brand name. I've been there. They won't even talk
to you.

That may or may not matter, but you should know it.

Thanks all for the advice. I shined the "Mad Dog" on and sent away to Newegg
for the NEC. I got it yesterday and plugged her up. I haven't had a chance
to burn anything yet. Anywhooooo ....

One you get comfortable, take a look at the NEC forum on
www.cdfreaks.com. Lots of good info and tweaked firmwares.
