CD-ROM - "CD RW" in Peripherals

Default CD RW

Is there anyway I can rewrite to a CDRW without deleting the media already
on the CD.
Sometimes I want to add new music to a Re writable CD but Nero seems to
delete the songs already recorded on it.

Dear Chris,

it sounds like you are compiling a multi-session disc with Nero. If you
want to write and delete files on a CDRW like one would on a floppy, it is
necessary to install another program in the Nero suite of programs on your
Nero CD. Install INCD for the purpose of using re-writeables as
re-writeables rather than expensive CD-Rs. Realize of course that on a
practical level, CDRWs are much more fragile than regular CD's and many find
that they last for about 20 full re-writes before they are shot.

With CD-Rs available virtually free at Radio Shack and Micro Center, I have
found these discs much more stable and of course cheaper than the pricey and
finicky CDRWs.

I'm not familiar with CDA on a CDRW (none of my regular CD players
will read rewritable media), but in a regular CD player the only audio
it will see is the first session on the CD. If you add more they
won't be visible.

It may be that Nero is marking your new session as the primary
(somehow) so that's all the CD player sees.

I'm not on firm ground on this one, though. Other experts here will
probably be more help.

The easiest way would be to save what is on the cd to hd as .wav, add the
music you want to add as move .wav and reburn after cd erase.

Some standalone recorders will allow you to delete the last track or to
reopen a disc. In fact, some will let you replace an existing track, an
operation I do *not* recommend since the timing must be exact to avoid
problems.

There are signs that some computer-based mastering programs are headed
that way, but I've not tried them. It is certainly possible in theory on
a TAO recording.

As another pointed out, you do not want to add a second audio session if
you want to play the disc in a conventional CD machine; only a CD-ROM
can (but should not) read a second audio session. Experiments some years
ago led me to believe that programs which tried to do it left unhappy
results.

(Nero and other burn softwares don't overwrite and the old audio is not
deleted.)

Are you sure you are not seeing the old, rather than the new?

CD players should see the old, not the new. (Windows CD Player should
see and play the old and new.)
