The theft device light comes on flashing and the car will not start
until it quits flashing, about 10 - 12 minutes. It is an ongoing but
intermittent problem.
Can I disconnect it or work around it somehow?

This is a known problem for 1997 to 2003 and maybe
even 2006. I know of no solution. How could GM
not know about this and do something, too much
marketing and not enough engineering.
