small "hub cap" in the center of the wheel. This is the small circular cap with a Ram symbol on it. It is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Checked other three and noticed another one that was a bit loose. Went to Auto Zone and no luck. Very reluctantly paid the Dodge dealer $19.50 for one!!!!!!! Are they this high all over the country or just here in Atlanta? Anybody know an alternate source for this item? Thanks, Ned |

I lost one of these when I got new tires awhile back. I've had a seach for them on e-Bay for some time now, but they don't come up very often. When I have seen them, they were for a set of 4, and I didn't bid high enough. I'm about to go to the dealer and eat it. |

I now have one wheel without the cap, it will remain that way for the next five years until I go to sell the truck. I will buy one on ebay, pop it in, sell the truck, then it will fall out again. |

In fact they can pretty much do what they want short of infringe on copywrite laws. The fact is that there is a thing called supply and demand. They keep what they can sell, if there is olny going to be a demand for 200 of these caps a year then the demand is not as great as it is for the 2 million of the oil filters they are going to sell. When you go to the dealer you are paying for several things. You get quality, how long did the OEM part last? You got 72000 miles out of a (insert part here) and you ***** about the fact the dealer wants $10.00 more for their part. How many times do you want to re-do the job? If your local parts house don't have the part, then don't blame the dealer. The parts house could have had, they choose not to. By the way, I had to price brake rotors today for a caravan, Dealer price $58.00 each for Mopar, parts house $72.84 for raybestos. Most Mopar parts are competitive. As for the center cap, yep you got ripped, I will sell you that cap all day long for $13.85. But once again there is no law that says a bussiness has to sell at MSRP. I do, but I know of several dealers (ALL LINES) that sell on a curve. I am not intrested in that. I would suggest that you call around and find a place that will quote you the MSRP on that center cap. That is the guy you want to deal with. Ask me the MSRP on anything, I will be straight with it. I am not hiding anything. |

Just for the heck of it today, I called around to other dealers.
Lowest I could find was $19.00 What a friggin' racket! Volkswagon pulled this same **** in the 60s & 70s, until J.C. Whitney broke their back with reasonably priced parts. Is there any national company that sells Dodge parts for reasonable prices? Thanks, Ned |
