Don't put R-22 under your hood; it makes weird lumps in the hood. It doesn't
"seep" out when it departs the system.

Hopefully yours will be an exception, but generally if an AC system has lost
it's charge - there's a leak. A working system is operating at much higher
pressures than a tire and contains far less freon volume-wise as tires
contain air. Sorry to say, I suspect you will be in warm air again in a
short period of time.

I am thinking this too now.. When I turned on the ac today, I got a puff of
what I thought was dust out of the vents, but then it disappeared very
rapidly and was not dust... Any ideas on that??

UNLESS, and I mean, UNLESS you have a pretty good leak in the evap, and
thats my thinking since no one seems to know how to find them...(its easy
actually)
that would have been oil vapor from your compressor.
COULD have been, but unlikely, water vapor....
And....depending on how long the air was on, BEFORE you got your puff, it
COULD have been ice crystals....laugh, but my Ford will sometimes throw snow
at you...
