I am looking for a good quality 4/5 star hotel in the UK with an
indoor and outdoor swimming pool, it must allow children.

Any ideas would be gratefully accepted.
Outdoor pools are rare except for coastal locations cause our weather is so
unpredictable and even if hotels have them, they are often closed because in
the UK you MUST have a lifeguard present and often if only one or two want
to use the outdoor pool, its too expensive for a hotel to employ someone to
do it.

However I suggest the Devere Hotel group is a good starter, especially if
you have kids (http://www.devereonline.co.uk/default.htm). They are a
premier 4/5 star group and all of their larger hotels are set up for
leisure.

I have been to Belton Woods and it has just about everything and LOADS of
activities included or arrangeable including (I think without checking the
web site to get an up to date list) Horse riding, Archery, Golf ( they have
a championship golf course), Quad Bikes (or go-karts can't remember), a
Nature Trail, playground etc. Also have a nice large indoor pool, gym etc
etc. However find a Devere that fits where you want to go.

They often have very good deals on (compared to normal prices) if you book
certain times, dates etc. Of course they also own "the Belfry".

Hope this helps.

Under 16's must be with parent/adult in pool/health club. Excellent hotel
on Picadilly Circus. No outdoor pool unless raining. Regards. s

My family own a UK hotel with an outdoor swimming pool (which incidently
is

open from May to September and heated to 84 degrees)
I can tell you that you've been misinformed. UK hotel pools DO NOT have
to

have a lifeguard. HOWEVER.........
The Enviromental health dept on the IW (where we are situated)
follows/lays
Quote:
down probably the most stringent recommendations in the country.
The pool has to be fenced, locked when not in use, opening times displayed
and adhered to. Life rings etc in place. An Alarm or emergency phone
must

be fitted at poolside. Someone MUST be on duty -in the hotel- when the
pool

is open BUT oddly their only requirement in an emergency is to dial 999.
These "rules" which we have been "advised" to follow since last year, do
put

severe limitations on us. Being too small a business to employ outside
help,
Quote:
I am now virtually tied to the building because I cannot leave the
premises

if the pool is open.
