gifts and spent about $20 on each. I really searched the ads and stores for deals too. Most years I spend less. them! This year the boys all got Coloring book and crayons, a reading book, mega blocks and a Little Tykes Tractor and trailer! The girls all got a coloring book and crayons, a reading book, mega blocks and a doll! I buy for some of the kiddos who have left my home too if I still keep in contact with them! Always :-) I have new starters this year, they arrived last week, but they
are still getting gifts (and so did the ones who left)! I spend about £5 at Christmas per child, and about £10 for birthdays (less if I can still get something good on sale). I buy craft kits, hair accessories (we call them bobbles, clips and hairbands no idea what words you would use LOL), makeup (lipgloss, glitter gel or nail varnish), small toys (this year my new baby is getting a stacking tower), jigsaws, books.... whatever strikes my eye that I know they'll like. Last time I was in the States, Walmart did great little craft kits (egg dying and stuff - it was Easter) for only a dollar, they are GREAT and I stocked up!!! I have four 6/7-yr old girls, hence the little girl make-up and hair stuff ;-) I also buy selection boxes - boxes with 6 or 7 different chocolate bars in - for ex-mindies, since they are all still in touch. Donna PS Are these deductible in your countries? We can only deduct them if they are permanently marked with our business name! |

"I spend about £5 at Christmas per child, and about £10 for birthdays

[..] must be a US thing to spend $20+ on a child. last Christmas my wife had ~30 part time children, I couldn't even contemplate her spending $20 on each child... that's about £400 she spends under £5 ($7) on each child and always buys stuff in bulk or on sale if possible she tries to get donations from businesses too, this year she had 20 large selection boxes given. (for the Americans... that's a box containing 10 ***orted candy bars) I suppose if she had 4 or 5 full time private kids it would be different but she only has part time community kids. Les |

I am in Canada, Ontario to be exact and we are only allowed 5 children! So
I do spend more! If I had 30 children I could not afford to spend $20. each! LOL...... I would be broke! I'm in England :-) And Canadian and Australian $ go a lot further than US $ (???) > last Christmas my wife had ~30 part time children, Ouch ;-) Have you heard of baker ross? I mentioned them in a previous thread, www.bakerross.co.uk you can get some great things very cheaply there! Another good one is www.thebookpeople.co.uk I got 20 books for £10 from there, all great books, and childminders get a discount ;-) > I suppose if she had 4 or 5 full time private kids it would be different > but she only has part time community kids. I'm pretty sure that with 30 p/t children every week, she's probably equalling most c'minder fees :-) C'minders are a surplus commodity in most areas of the country and it is hard to get full. I have generally 6 children on my books most years and barely clear £1000 per YEAR after expenses! It is still cheaper at £5 per child when there are only 6 of 'em though ;-) Donna PS Did you get my post re. ukchildminders? |

"I am in Canada, Ontario to be exact and we are only allowed 5
children!" [..] see Services page at www.mumsaway.com I don't know why she wanted it, none of her kids parents are likely to be searching for a childminder, I don't think any of them even have Internet access. Les |
