last us into the next Christmas...lol.

Default Re: Early Childhood Educators Poem

This is your current wage??
This is awful...where are you from?
Our minimum wage here in Manitoba is going to be 7.00 soon and a starting
wage for an ECE II is a bit higher depending on the center. We have a
recomended scale set out by the Manitoba Child Care ***ociation...it's
called MCCA Salary Scale Level III and the starting wage for a level II is I
believe $11.56.

What are everyone else's wages like...ball park figure of course? How about
a Family Daycare....is it profitable at all? What does your wage come out to
approximately? Just curious.

Thanks,
Bernadette

Nooo this was my wage in the center I worked at... I am in the US. I don't
know how the currency rate changes....

Family daycare is profitable... we're not getting rich but I make more than
I did at the center.

How does that work, the currenct rate? If I put down what I earn in A$ you
will probably think that I am on good money!!! when in fact it is very
average.

Hmm, well, in my area of England most nursery nurses (family daycare) I know
are on just above minimum wage (£4.20 per hour - which is... ummm... about
$6.50 USA - sorry too lazy to go look up an Canadian/Aus converter ;-) )
Childminders (home daycare) vary from £2-£3 per child per hour - about
$3-$4.50 USA). This is regardless of qualifications or experience!
I don't know if that 'sounds' good or not, but with an average house now at
around £150,000 (hugely variable, but I think those are the latest govt
figures) it isn't anywhere near a living wage (less than £9,000 pa).
And newspapers over here rave about how childminders earn extortionate
amounts and daycare costs a fortune LOL!
