If you want a Professional, and not to sound like a meanie, but we prefer
to be called Childcare provider's. My 13 year old son is a babysitter!

If there is a collage near by, you might ask around there to see if a
collage student majoring in childhood education might be willing to help
out occasionally. They do not always have cl***es all day and can always
use the money. If you pay well enough they would be more willing to
skip a cl*** or two for you!

I am sorry if I offended anyone. I never said I wanted a professional. I
just would like someone who is experienced with children to come in when I
need them to watch my girls. I personally feel that a teenager does not have
enough experience. I could be proved wrong though. I also feel that a
teenager can not come in during the middle of the day, as they are supposed
to be in school. There is often times when I need someone to come in during
the day. For that reason, I feel that a teenager will not be available.
Again, I an sorry if I offended anyone.

Default Re: Questions to ask a potential babysitter.

You can do the records check yourself with a name and birthdate at most
courthouses and online for quite a few. Don't let anyone con you out of cash
to do this. It's free on the internet. If you need help, tell me what
state/counties the babysitter has lived in and i will send you the links to
the clerk of courts records of that county and also the ***ual predator
links.

We have a group of mums that have formed their own group where they do
things like this for each other and payment is in form of helping each other
out and looking after each other children at times like you have described.
I don't know how things work in Canada but it sounds like you are going to
have a hard time finding someone to help you out. Are you able to make your
child's doctor appoints in advance so that you can work around them and
arrange for someone to come in on set days at similar times? Do you have
places out there that offer occasional care? Good luck in finding someone
to help you out.

Actually, I talked to my cousin's girlfriend and she knows someone who does
this. I am hoping to hear from her today or tomorrow. She supposedly has a
list of references and a criminal record check that I can look at and she
does this on a casual basis. I will have to wait and see, but it sounds
promising.

Default Re: Questions to ask a potential babysitter.

Thank you for the offer, but I live in Canada and you have to pay City Hall
here to have it done. The child care provider usually has to have it done
before getting a job, whether professionally or not.And they pay for it not
the person or facility hiring.

Default Re: Questions to ask a potential babysitter.

<O.K. then you are looking for a Professional Childcare provider. Here
are a few :
1)How long have you been a provider?
2)What are your qualifications?
3)Is your facility or home licensed by the state?
4)Will you provide me with at least 3 references?
5)Why did you become a daycare provider?
6)What is your discipline philosophy?
7)What has been your staff's turnover the past year?
8)Am I able to drop in at anytime?
9)What other adults will be around my child?>
----------------------------------------------
And if it's important..

Do you smoke?

Do you have or allow animals in the house with the children/babies?

What are your policies concerning illnesses..and pay/fees..vacation
time..sick days...late fees?

Do the children go outside?

Do you have a learning program/curriculum?

What are you policies concerning discipline?

Ask about what most concerns you...and if you think of something
later..call back, get the best references...and trust your gut
instincts! Find out what the napping/meal/activity schedule is..and drop
in. It's considerate to know the schedule..so your visit will not be any
more disruptive than necessary.
