Dear Sisters and Brothers

We are glad to inform you that Asraya Hostel for Children is run at
Venganoor. This was started in 2002 after a survey was conducted by our
Board Members. We found out about the children's sufferings and sorrow and
decided to start a home for them.

There are 52 children staying in this home aged from 1½ years to 15 years
old. We have 6 staff members, myself, and my husband. In all 8 people
looking after the home. The children belong to different religions, caste
creed, and places. Some of the children's parents have committed suicide,
their mother's are unwed, have divorced and separated parents, or are the
children of widows.

The children's education is carefully looked after. As they need good
education they are sent to good education institutions. Some attend SAUPS
in Vanagoor while the older ones attend Kottakad Koham MCHS also in
Venganoor. One of our aims is that these children should become future
educated good citizens.

They are also given encouragement in dancing, singing, and handicrafts. We
give a parental affection to these children so that they never feel they are
orphaned or poor.
