preschool? She will be 2 in June and I stay at home. I was thinking that I might put in to preschool when she is 3 for a few days a week and full time when she is 4. Does that sound reasonable? |

interact with other children, like a museum program,or church outings but hold off as long as long as you can.She need to see other children but she can do that at the park.Have her help you bake cookies, etc and she will be so much better off......I have taught pre school for over thirty years, but still believe the longer they can be home with Mom and the family the better they will do in school later on |

adjustment. Be ready for it when it happens. Fast drop offs at preschool are a must... the longer you linger it sends a message that you don't want to leave her and it sends the wrong message. If you're upbeat and happy at drop off then it will make her more at ease. She may bounce into preschool without a look back at you... but most kids will have a few weeks of adjustment before they fit preschool into their routine. I am in total agreement with you on this one. Having worked in centres for
the past 10 years I feel that children are better off staying at home with mum/dad for a long as possible. The children I have in my care that attend one to two days a week are well adjusted and those that come full-time are the ones that have the behaviour problems. Many of these children have been in care since they were very young. On a personal note I would keep my child at home and join a mothers group or social group for them to have interactions with other children. I would only enrol my child into a pre-school program the year before they start school but only on a part-time basis like 2-3 days a week. I realise that a lot of parents don't have the choice of doing this due to work/financial commitments but if you are in a position to keep your child at home with you please consider it. So many children are growing up in centres all over the world and missing out on precious important home environments. I am one of those that must work for financial reason or we would not have
basic needs. I have a benefit of me working in a center where my children go with. My 2 yr old will be 3 in July and then be in the class I assist with which should be really great. We are just working on the potty training which she has been doing pretty well with the past couple days.
