I am wondering what type of questions you might ask references of a care
giver you may hire?

You could ask if she was on time, reliable, what she did with the children,
if the children enjoyed being with that caregiver, anything you think you
might like to know. You could also just ask, in general, what they
though of her, as for her personality traits, etc.
