Leslie We are making rear view mirror decorations! I bought a fish cookie cutter from walmart for 50 cents. the kids will all help in making bakers clay....and cutting out their own fish shape. I will cook the ornaments making sure to put a small hole in the mouth area of the fish. The following day, the kids will paint and decorate them however they want for their daddy, or male figure of their choice. after drying i will put a protective gloss on each of the fish and connect the tow fisht with a piece of fishing wire. I will hand write "You're a great catch dad!" on one fish, "Happy Fathers Day 2004" on the other. Bakers Clay 2 cups flour 1/2 cup salt 3/4 cup water food coloring Mix flour and salt. Add food coloring to water and gradually mix with flour. Knead. If the dough is too stiff, add water. If it is too sticky, add flour. Roll dough out with a rolling pin. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Poke holes in shapes for hanging if desired. Bake shapes on foil covered cookie sheet at 350o for 10 minutes or until completely hard. Cool & paint. -- ~*~ To the World you may be One Person, but to One Person you may be the World! ~*~ "daisymay94" <Daisymay94@verizon.net> wrote in message news:toFzc.29453$mz.25645@nwrdny02.gnilink.net... > ok I have 2 days here ladies and no ideas (friday is our field trip so I > need to be done by thursday) > > I haven't a clue on what to have the kiddies make for their dads.... of time to think of something. Joanie I agree mothers are easier than dads. All I can think of at the moment is the regular bookmarks and rock pets and paper weights that dads seem to get stuck with every year. Go and have a quick look at www.dltk.com I get some great ideas from them for gifts and things to make. This year we made key holders...we just took a piece of wood the children
painted it. Then we gave the children tongue depressors cut in half and they made each one into a family member and glued them on the wood. We then put in a hook for keys in front of every name. They look great. Fathers day, heres what we did, went to Walmart, got plain white coffee mugs, a
dollar a piece, went to Michael's craft store, got...one bottle perm enamel surface conditioner, two colors perm enamel paint, one bottle perm enamel clear gloss glaze. conditioned the cups, painted the kids hands, (yup even the one year old) hand printed the coffee cups one hand on each side,, (envision cold winter day both hands on cup to keep warm) Using same paint painted each child's name on cup between hand prints. Waited an hour or so to dry, painted on clear glaze, that took a couple of hours to dry. placed in gift bags, tissue on top. and presto, the Dads absolutely love them Oh I forgot, painted the date one the handle of the cup, just the year. I can send you a picture if you want! easy quick and wonderful....just follow the directions one the bottles. Have a wonderful day Gin Of everything I've ever lost, I miss my mind the most. |
