Interesting to see the various clubhead speeds being posted on the
various tv coverages of the PGA.

DL lll demonstrated that his 80% swing produces the best clubhead
speed for him.

....also.......watched Freddy Couples attempting to drive a green with
a swing that must have been 1hostinghosting% of his normal swingspeed. (he
missed!)

A golf coach I know well swears that relaxation on the downswing produces
faster swing speeds.
He wants everything real soft.

I tried the hostinghosting% up to 85% power today on the range, works pretty good and I
hit better shots today then last week, I didn't hit far with the driver, but
the ball didn't run away and stayed on target. It's a good point.

I don't think he said that exactly. I think he said it gave him the best
overall results.

Smooth and hard is better than Smooth and soft..... What normally happens
is, when we hit hard we are no longer smooth.

I have one of those clubhead speed measuring devices and experimented
with a very relaxed downswing, almost to the point where I felt I
wasn't using my arms and shoulders at all, just the turning of the
hips. (in reality I definitely was using my arms and shoulders,just
later in the swing). Swing speed jumped up 5 to 7 mph at impact. Too
bad I can reproduce this swing on the course, it just requires too
much mental effort.
