Typical British, when we're on top form,
albeit The Todal is very well read.

We get these all the time. For example,
Question, "Sorry, did you mention my name?"
Answer, "only under my breath."

(which I think would be a nasty put-down, were it not hilarious)

Thanks, I sure am enjoying your presence here. Years ago,
there were three posters: 24Fighting Chickens, Chief Broom, and
Photodude. Your humor reminds me of theirs, and they are greatly
missed.

However, I'm not sure about Todal's addy: Judex. Is that an
ex-Just Judy?

Both scenarios are of equal levels of probability. Is that a little
clearer?

Let me explain why I think so...

If I am engaging in the illegal activity of torturing prisoners, the very
last thing I wish to do is draw attention to me in any way, shape, or form.
I cannot control the reaction of the media, nor of politicians, who may
decide that these pictures are simply the "tip of an iceberg." So, I do not
draw attention with a phony story with phony pictures because it might make
someone dig deeper and uncover my real illegal behavior.

Of course, if you think that James Bond movies reflect real life, you may
disagree.

Much clearer thanks. However it is also clearly false.

There was no question of hiding the story. It was coming out anyway.
They knew that. In fact it was already half out. The Sun had covered the
allegations months earlier. All that remained was for the squaddies to
be charged, and the **** would hit the fan.

And even if I don't think so, I still disagree

The fact is that governments practice news management. They deliberately
use scheduling and diversionary tactics to maximise, minimise or
discredit press coverage that they find embarr***ing. Even those who had
not realised this already should have discovered it from the Jo Moore
affair.

I see, I suppose you will explain that further down...

So, there was already stories out and this would would have no effect then
one way or the other. So why release it? It certainly would not put the
media off the scent. In fact, it would likely have the opposite effect; it
would make them feel tricked and they would then work even harder to uncover
dirt.

The government is not the only folks to manipulate the media in this way.
So do the opposition, so do the media themselves.

I'm afraid we'll never agree on this but we've both made our arguments
clear.
