I am thinking about buying a jaguar x type between 2002 and 2004 from Florida through ebay and I live in Caifornia. I believe that in california all cars need a catalytic converter. Is a cataltyic converter standard in all jaguar cars, even in other states? Also what would be the total cost of installing a catalytic converter? Also if there would be any problems with getting the car into california. Your help would be highly appreciated, Jim |

I forsee zero problems, as long as the car is in good running order and can p*** California emissions - cars in the years you are looking for have a programmable interface for checking emissions. Something will have to be wrong with the Jag to fail. Venger |

Yes. > Is a cataltyic converter standard in all jaguar cars, even in other > states? Yes, > Also what would be the total cost of installing a catalytic converter? You do not need to worry about that. A replacement is about 600 dollars US. > Also if there would be any problems with getting the car into > california. None. I did it. Bought an 01 in Florida and had it trucked to California. All you have to do is have it smog checked, then you need asigned title from the previous owner, statement of selling price and then you can register it. First time registration is not cheap, however. Plan on around $2000.00 > Your help would be highly appreciated, You got it. Paul |
