Looking for a large luxury Benz, but feel today’s S-Cl*** is too - erm, pedestrian for you? May we suggest this clean 1970 600, currently up for grabs on eBay Motors: http://easyurl.net/1970Mercedes No, this isn’t one of the grotesquely-large six-door Pullman limousines, but the “short wheelbase” car (can you call 126 inches short?) still offers drivers and p***engers plenty of amenities for a 30-year-old car. This U.S. model, sporting the legendary W100 6.3-liter V-8, sports all the subtle touches that made the 600 the star of Benz’s lineup for years: adjustable air suspension, hydraulic power seating (fore and aft), wine cooler - and much more. Sure, all those features - and a boat load of sheetmetal -mean the 600’s hefty, but the fuel-injected 300- horsepower motor can still manage to smoothly move the car up to 130 mph. Although treated to a mechanical restoration in 2003, this 600 is largely original, having covered only 65,000 miles in its three decades on this planet. If money were no object - given the car’s reserve is over $60,000 and carries an estimated mileage of 10 mpg city - we’d be inclined to rack a host more miles upon the grosser Benz, as it just may be the ultimate way to cruise in comfort. |
