Using an Epson 4490 scanner, is there a way to turn off the number scheme,
i.e img001, img002 etc.
I do not want the number to appear after the prefix. Currently, I have to
go and rename each image after the scan is saved. Any workarounds?

IMHO, Most people do multiple scans of a single target requiring a
unique filename for each image file created. Most commonly,
filename=filename+1 is commonly used to create the filenames
automagically.

However, as rarely as it might be used, the gui box should have this
option and you really are a "One Shot Wonder"!
