Toyota - "Prius - Why aren't you buying one?" in Cars

Default Prius - Why aren't you buying one?

Heard a few good things about Prius and hybrid cars on general from
reviews and from people here. I'm thinking about getting one too.
But then not everyone is going for it. Since I don't know about
hybrid cars much, I'd like to know why you're not buying one?

I drove a 4-cylinder Camry CE before and I felt the car was slow to
speed up at stop signs. My friend, not an expert on hybrid cars, says
if a Camry is too slow for me, I shouldn't go for hybrid cars since
they take even longer to speed up. True?

'Cause I hate the environment and I want to kill everyone as quickly as I
can.

The current Prius is practically completely unavailable. I bought a
new car in January after my old one was totaled, the wait was quoted
at 2, 4, 6, or 8 months depending on dealer.

In the US, "practicality" is considered by about 1% of car buyers. Some
people talk themselves into believing they can afford (maybe they can) a
18mpg car when they drive 40 miles each way to work. Even when gas is
approaching 2 USD / gallon, reality seldom sinks in.

This is encouraging though.

The same reason I won't buy a rotary engine Mazda. "Different" equipment
understood by few. I'm waiting for some "real long term results"

I don't know. If you want "break neck" performance it would seem
counterproductive to even consider a hybrid

The Prius uses the electric motors to accelerate from a stop. Electric
motors have more torque than a gas motor.

Before you take the word of "friend, not an expert on hybrid cars", test
drive the car.

I got to use one for a couple of weeks from the dealer while they rebuilt
the engine of the car they had just sold me. They are too small for my
tastes. There is no trunk room and the cost of replacement batteries scares
me away. Not to mention all the fancy electronics technology that will be
subjected to climatic extremes.

Tegger... I've just acquired an EXCELLENT environmental ***ault
vehicle. An old DIESEL powered Datsun truck! LOL I'm gonna go
trolling for some unsuspecting hybrid to get next to at a traffic
light with their window rolled down so I can sit next to them and rev
the engine. Hehehhehheee!
