Toyota - "New Transmission" in Cars

It's a combination of sentimentality, utility and style. I just don't like
any other cars as much, therefore I don't seek to replace it with other
cars.

The Tercel does not 'need' a new transmission nor anything much for that
matter - I just know a good deal when I see one. The deal also includes
some rust-free quarter panels and other body parts, most of what I need to
get my Tercel back to rust-free condition.

I'd go ahead and get it personally ... heck, even if it *does* have the
pre-updated parts in it, you could still get a lot of miles out of it before
the problem showed itself.

The deal is set already. At $300 for the parts lot, it's a steal
considering that wreckers want at least $300 for a used transmission. The
purpose of getting another transmission is to be able to work on one while
still driving the car. Since I double clutch by force of habit (years of
driving cars with bad synchros) any transmission I drive will likely last.
I'm glad to hear you're keeping your 83 celica. Those are nice cars too.
