The oil plug is about there but on the opposite side and UNDERneath, facing the p***enger compartment. OR is this a trick question? ;-) -- - Philip @ Maximum Torque RPM |

Left side (on the bottom of the oil pan).... the right side is the
transmission drain plug. Almost made that mistake myself... What size socket does it take to remove the plug?

Jeanie ... WHY are you asking these questions? WHERE is the oil
plug? WHAT size socket do I need? Did I miss where you asked what/where/how about the oil filter! WELL .... Jennie, were you going to put oil in yourself THROUGH the
drain plug? Oil follows gravity, ya know. ;-) Or did you mean you were thinking about CHANGING the oil (and oil filter) yourself? From your questions, I *strongly* suggests you have qualified supervision. And get a pair of latex gloves 'cuz used oil is yucky stuff to get on your hands. -- - Philip @ Maximum Torque RPM In news:4MCdnaBq65Uq19fdRVn-jw@adelphia.com, Jennie <hnix@adelphia.net> being of bellicose mind posted: > I though about putting oil in myself.... > > > "Philip®" <1chip-state1@earthlink.net.invalid> wrote in message > news:aYc2c.21223$yZ1.5635@newsread2.news.pas.earth link.net... > > Jeanie ... Jennie -
Never mind Philip, people let him stay here because he says something mildly useful from time to time.... ;-) It's a 14mm bolt in the oil pan, changing the oil is really quite simple but has to be done properly or very bad things can result. If you are even moderately mechanical it's a snap. Some tips if you've never done it before... -- Change the oil when the car is warm, it will drain easier and more completely. Philip is quite correct that used oil is not real pleasant on your hands or on the driveway. If you drop the bolt in the drain pan, don't worry, you can recover it afterward. -- Make sure you change the filter too, you can buy a cap to fit over the end of the filter to get it off easily with a 3/8" socket wrench and extension -- Don't overtigten either the filter or the bolt when re-installing. Run the filter up hand tight plus a quarter turn or so. -- Make sure you have a pan under the filter when you loosen it, some oil will leak out. -- When refilling, put about 3 quarts in, start the car for a minute to get oil circulating in the filter, shut it off, check for leaks and wait 5 minutes to check the level again before adding more oil to bring it up to the correct level. -- Check the oil level again the next day to make sure nothing's amiss.
