MS does not offer a *stand alone*, if you will, upgrade from Home to Pro.. I am not that knowledgeable on the matter but, I would think it would take some unusual knowledge of, probably, source code to pull that off. If you care to keep me, and the rest of the group, updated on this topic, you can post with my "handle", JAX, in the Subject line. Please add some portion of this thread to your message so that others can follow the conversation. In the Plus section of previous issue (2004/02/09), Fred said, "But you won't find the same Group settings that are available in Pro." I wrote a short note to Fred describing a method for accessing those group policy settings in XP Home. - START > Run... > rundll32.exe netplwiz.dll,UsersRunDll (Note: this command IS case sensitive) And I provided a link to the web page where I'd found that info. http://www.scottxp.com/winxp.php That page describes several XP Home work arounds: > * Running IIS 5.0 web server > * Advanced file sharing/security functionality > * Uninstalling MSN Messenger > * Accessing an Advanced User Management screen > * Access domain resources without specifying a p***word each time Strickly speaking, XP Pro features aren't being added. You're merely accessing various features that are well hidden in XP Home, but easily found in XP Pro. Bob Dietz |

Fred Langa explains how to automate Windows XP tools and tasks that normally require manual intervention. http://www.informationweek.com/story...5600170&pgno=1 -- Hope this helps. Let us know. Thanks Wes,
After looking further, I am not so suspicious now. When this thread started, I ***umed the OP was a "newbie" and may be about to get in trouble. I did a Google search for Langa and came up with a few hits that caused me to suspect malware. I prefer to err to the safe side.
